Christmas Gift Guide: Jewellery for Her, By Budget (Ireland 2026)
Share
Every year the same thing happens. It's November, you want to buy something she will actually wear, and you have no idea whether €50 is too little or €1,000 is too much.
I'm a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader, and I run Cotter & Co from Ireland. I choose the diamonds, design the pieces and have them finished by our goldsmiths, so I know exactly what you get at each price. This guide takes the guesswork out of choosing Christmas jewellery for her in Ireland, with honest advice on what is worth your money at every budget.

First, three quick tips before you choose
1. Buy something she already wears. Look at what she puts on every morning. Gold or silver? Studs or hoops? Delicate or bold? A gift in her usual style will be worn daily, which matters far more than the price tag.
2. Be careful with rings. Unless you are proposing, a ring is the hardest jewellery to get right. Irish ring sizes are lettered (for example M or N), and a wrong guess, although can be rectified, can be risky. Earrings, pendants and bracelets are far safer.
3. Order early. Made-to-order and bespoke pieces take time, and delivery slots tighten from the middle of December. For Christmas delivery in Ireland, we recommend ordering by December 1st for standard pieces and by 15th of November for bespoke pieces.
Christmas jewellery gifts for her under €150
You do not need to spend a lot to give something lovely, and this is the sweet spot for a mum, sister, friend or Secret Santa.
What works well:
- Sterling silver pendants and chains
- Simple stud earrings
- Initial or birthstone pendants
- Dainty bracelets

Gemmologist tip: At this price, sterling silver is excellent value and wears beautifully, but it can tarnish if it sits in a drawer. A small silver cloth is a lovely add-on to the gift.
Shop silver pendants and gifts under €150
Jewellery gifts for her from €150 to €300
This range is where solid gold starts to appear, and it is a very good place to buy a gift that feels special without being extravagant.
What works well:
- Solid 9ct gold pendants and chains
- Small gold hoops and studs
- Gold bracelets
- Pearl earrings

Gemmologist tip: Choose solid gold over gold plated or gold vermeil if you want it to last. Solid gold will not wear through to another metal, and it can be repaired, resized and polished for decades.
Jewellery gifts for her from €300 to €600
This is the budget where diamonds enter the conversation, and it is the one I get asked about most, especially by people buying for a girlfriend or partner.
What works well:
- Diamond solitaire pendants
- Small diamond stud earrings
- Gold bracelets with a bit more presence
- Mixed-stone pendants

Gemmologist tip: At this level you will often choose between a natural and a lab-grown diamond. Both are real diamonds with the same sparkle. Natural diamonds are rarer and tend to hold their value better, while lab-grown stones let you buy a larger diamond for the same money. There is no wrong answer, only the right one for her and your budget. Read our guide to lab-grown vs natural diamonds for the full comparison.
Jewellery gifts for her from €600 to €1,000
For a wife or long-term partner, this is where gifts start to feel like keepsakes.
What works well:
- Larger diamond stud earrings
- Diamond or gemstone bracelets
- Statement pendants
- Matching earring and pendant sets

Gemmologist tip: With diamond jewellery, ask about the diamond's quality, not just its size. Cut is the biggest factor in how much a diamond sparkles, so a well-cut smaller stone often looks better than a larger, poorly cut one. For larger or higher-value stones, ask whether the diamond comes with an independent grading report from a lab such as GIA, IGI or HRD.
The big gift: €1,000 to €2,000 and beyond
If you want a gift she will keep for life, this is the budget. Diamond earrings are the classic choice for a reason: they suit almost everyone, they go with everything, and they are easy to wear every day.
What works well:
- Diamond stud or drop earrings
- Diamond tennis bracelets
- Higher-carat gold pieces
- A bespoke piece, designed around her

Why consider bespoke: At Cotter & Co we can design and make a piece just for her. I source the diamond personally, design the piece, and our goldsmiths finish it by hand. It is the best way to give something nobody else has, but it does need time, so order well before Christmas.
Worth knowing: Once you spend this much, it is sensible to insure the piece. If it is for someone you love, you may also want an independent valuation for insurance purposes. Our sister business, Diamond Valuations Ireland, provides these separately and independently.
Who are you buying for? A quick guide
- A wife or long-term partner: Diamond earrings or a diamond pendant. Timeless and personal.
- A girlfriend: A diamond or gold pendant, or small studs. Meaningful without feeling like a proposal.
- A mum: A pendant or bracelet, ideally with a birthstone or initials for the family.
- A sister or friend: Dainty silver or gold pieces she can wear every day.
- Bridesmaids or the bridal party: Matching earrings or pendants. See our wedding collection for gifts that suit the whole group.
- Yourself: You are allowed. Many of our customers buy a piece as a reward for the year.
Buying Christmas jewellery online in Ireland: what to check
- Delivery and last order dates. Confirm the date for Christmas delivery before you buy.
- Diamond details. Ask whether the diamond is natural or lab-grown, and whether it comes with a grading report.
- Returns and exchanges. Check the policy before you buy, and remember that made-to-order and personalised pieces are usually excluded from cancellation rights.
- Gift packaging. Ask whether the piece arrives gift-ready and whether a gift receipt is available.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I spend on a Christmas jewellery gift for my wife or girlfriend in Ireland?
There is no set amount. Many people spend between €50 and €600 for a girlfriend, and between €500 and €2,000 for a wife or long-term partner, but the best gift is one she will wear. A well-chosen €250 pendant will be worn far more than an expensive piece that is not her style.
What is the best jewellery gift for her at Christmas?
Diamond earrings and pendants are the most popular because they suit almost everyone and can be worn every day. If you are unsure, choose something classic and simple.
Is diamond jewellery a good Christmas gift?
Yes. Diamond earrings and pendants are timeless, hard-wearing and suit most styles. Whether you choose natural or lab-grown, ask for details on the diamond and any grading report that comes with it.
What is the best jewellery gift for my mum?
A pendant, bracelet or earrings in a metal she already wears. Adding initials or birthstones for the family makes it more personal.
What is the last order date for Christmas jewellery in Ireland?
For Cotter & Co, our last order date for Christmas delivery is December 1st, and November 15th for bespoke pieces. We recommend ordering earlier to be safe.
Can I return or exchange a jewellery gift?
Standard pieces can be exchanged or returned under our policy. Made-to-order and personalised pieces are generally excluded.
